Forschungsinteressen

My research covers different aspects of human perception, cognition, and action. I am particularly interested in how humans select visual information from their environment, how this information is stored in working memory, and how it is used in action planning. To address these issues, my lab team uses different experimental and neurocognitive research methods (behavioral measures, EEG, eye tracking and motion tracking). Regarding visual selection, I examine how people filter relevant visual information from the vast variety of visual input they are continuously confronted with. Several aspects are involved in attentional selection, e.g., stimulus characteristics, context information, the observer’s current goals and intentions, her prior knowledge and selection history, and the value she assigns a stimulus or an object. I examine the role of these aspects in attentional selection using behavioral measures, eye tracking and neural markers of attention in the EEG.
