Research interests

We are analyzing cellular activation and expression patterns, virus-host interactions, neuroimmune interactions, routes of infection and persistence of neurotropic virus infections and the respective clinical outcome, e.g. epileptic seizures. Of main interest are the effects of an altered homeostasis of the CNS such as proinflammatory status. Moreover we are characterizing CNS tumors in animals as basis for new therapeutic approaches. Establishing and using alternatives for animal experiments is also of great interest.
