Research interests

My lab is interested in the mechanisms of specificity and dynamics of G protein mediated signal transduction. We analyze how GPCRs recognize and activate selective subtypes of G proteins and study how these receptors bind to adaptor molecules including G protein-coupled receptor kinases and arrestins. Another focus of our research is the specificity and spatio-temporal organization of G protein effector binding and activation. Last but not least we address the question how the electrical membrane potential influence ligand binding and ligand-mediated activation of selected and clinically relevant GPCRs such as classical receptors of the vegetative nervous system.
